Visit Hong Kong for an Unforgettable Adventure

Hong Kong is a place which attracts millions of people from all around the World. One of the important features of this place is that people of Hong Kong give utmost importance to time and money.   So we'll squander no time getting to the rundown of the best of Hong Kong. Whether you have a week or a day, blend and match these top city encounters for a life-changing excursion:

1. Have a laid back life at Victoria Harbor

The Hong Kong horizon is shocking and there are numerous approaches to take in the perspective, from a housetop bar or the touristy Peak Galleria. However, the most ideal approach to take everything in is from a Star Ferry.

The green-bottomed ships have been taking travellers over the harbour subsequent to the late 1800s. The ride amongst Central and Tsim Sha Tsui takes under 10 minutes, yet it's what numerous guests recollect most affectionately about their excursion to Hong Kong.

2. Sanctuary Street market

Sanctuary Street crystal gazers more often than not charge around HKD$100 (US$13) to peruse a palm and face. This is the spot to go satisfy all your outlandish dreams of Hong Kong. Everything here looks old, smudged and to some degree debilitating - as it were, great. A spread of laneways is loaded with all behaviour of knickknacks, the more pointless they are the more we appear to yearning them.

3. Nourishment challenges

No family Sunday faint whole dinner is finished without seeing grandmother precisely working her mouth around a chicken foot.

There comes a moment that each guest to Hong Kong needs to face his or her nourishment fears. Whether it's bones, heads of creatures or sustenance that scents like trash, it's feasible that you'll see it on your plate and you won't realize what to do with it.

However, the thing about these foods that at first makes a man force is that there's nothing testing about their flavours. The passage "peculiar sustenance" is chicken feet faint aggregate. The paws are regularly hacked up so they stack into a flawless little heap and are served in an adorable bamboo steam wicker container. It's all exceptionally edified.

Indeed, even the name is euphemized to "phoenix claws." Get past the possibility of it being feet and you have a standout amongst the most flavourful things to eat on the planet. Exceptionally suggested are the abalone sauce chicken feet at Lei Gardens.

4. Nature stun

Tai Long Wan in Sai Kung.

One of the greatest astonishments about Hong Kong is that unblemished nature exists minutes from the most swarmed parts of the city.

It's conceivable to do a daytrip - even a half-day trip - to a shoreline or mountain for a verdant time out. The best excursion is the one-hour trek from the passage of Sai Kung Country Park to a string of detached shorelines, unavailable aside from by vessel or by foot.

Tai Long Wan is our most loved for the extensive territory of clean sand, sans building ocean view and a little restaurant serving cool lager and fricasseed things.

5. Daily Mardi Gras

We as of late took an American guest to Lan Kwai Fong on a Monday night. The group stunned him. "This resemble Mardi Gras," he said.

He was stating it for emotional impact, yet Lan Kwai Fong truly is the spot to go to see Hong Kong's buckle down play-hard ethos coming from the high-weight enormous cash way of life of venture financiers, stock dealers and business visionaries, of which the city has bounty.

 6. Take in the significance of "thickness"

Mong Kok. Saturday evening. Shopping. Prepare yourself for a standout amongst the most overpowering case of populace thickness. Actually signifying "prosperous and swarmed corner," Mong Kok (MTR: Mong Kok) is the place everybody goes to purchase stuff and feel the vitality of countless individuals continuing on ahead.

There are many cheap places to stay in Hong Kong which will save a lot of cash. You can find many hotels and inns nearby the above places which are budget friendly. You can also check some best places to visit in Hong Kong at night.

Vintage spectacles - creating your own retro look with eyeglasses

Fashion in eyeglasses goes in cycles in the same way as general fashion. For example the small oval eye spectacle frames were in vogue in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, re-emerging in the 1990s. Originally the frames were this size for a practical reason - many lenses were ground from the mineral quartz and as it was difficult to obtain suitable pieces of quartz large enough, spectacle lenses had to be kept small! Lens Materials

Quartz lenses were also quite heavy - another very good reason for keeping the lens size down. These days eyeglass lenses are generally made from lightweight plastics called allyl diglycol carbonate. The plastic's name is often abbreviated to CR-39, standing for Columbia Resin, and it is less than half the weight of glass, which supplanted quartz in the early twentieth century. There are lighter spectacle lens option such as polycarbonate which is feather light and able to withstand heavy impact. Digressing slightly, it is the material of choice for vandal-proof light fittings.

Unfortunately, although impact resistant, the material is certainly not scratch resistant which is an important quality to bear in mind when fabricating spectacle lenses. These days polycarbonate lenses, which are a feature of safety eyewear, are surface treated to make them more resistant to scratching.

Vintage Frames

Most people want to collect vintage frames to wear them. However there are lots of issues to be aware of. For example:

What materials deteriorate?

This is a slightly silly question as all frames deteriorate over time. Those the least susceptible to deterioration are metal-rimmed frames. However with frames from around the mid twentieth century and onwards it is common to find the end tips and the nose pads are plastic coated. The reason for the coating is that the base metal of spectacle frames often contains nickel, and if nickel is in prolonged contact with the skin it can set off nickel dermatitis. Although the end tips and nose pads on such frames are very prone to deterioration from acid in perspiration, the good news is that a good optical outlet can usually fit replacement pads and tips - these may not totally match the originals, but their positioning means they will be hidden behind your ears or behind the lenses.

Other eyeglass frame material fare less well. A number of plastics were used in the twentieth century:

Cellulose Nitrate

This material, first developed in 1850, was originally used for the production of movie film and for a short while was used in spectacle frame production. However it is essentially the same material as guncotton (!) and it is now illegal to supply this, either in spectacle frames (or in films either). It deteriorates over time, and with heat gives off an acid smell. However if it does ignite it burns very fiercely as it releases oxygen fuelling the flames. Over time the material crumbles and may auto ignite. This material is so dangerous that museums are not allowed to have examples stored or on display. You certainly do not want any nitrate frames!

Cellulose Acetate

This material was developed and used for the production of glasses frames in the early 1920s in France. Unlike its nitrate cousin this material was not flammable. It is a stable material and easily worked and colored. It continues until today to be used from spectacle frames. Over time, if stored in overly hot conditions it will tend to lose its plasticity and elasticity, making it brittle and the shapes to warp.

Perspex

This very strong material gained popularity in the fifties and sixties for upswept cats-eye supra frames. These eliminated the lower frame rim, substituting a nylon cord (like fishing line) which was held under tension in the lower rim of the spectacle lens that had a groove cut to take the nylon cord. Although the nylon supra design was strong, the material is very brittle, needing a great deal of heat before it can be adjusted to fit the person's face properly. If insufficient heat is used, it is common for the frame itself to snap and it cannot then be repaired. However it is actually relatively straightforward for the nylon cord to be replaced, should that break over time.

There are various other materials such as carbon fibre, which enjoyed brief popularity in the seventies, but there is not enough space in this article to cover less popular materials any more comprehensively.

Are the frames safe to wear?

Well, with the exception of cellulose nitrate (see above) yes, they are all safe.

Can prescription lenses be put into a vintage frame?

Of course any frame needs to fit you correctly. Not every frame will suit every prescription and the difference between the geometrical centers of the two eye rims and the distance between your two eyes can have a major influence not just on how well fitting the frame will be but also on the thickness of the lens edge. You will need to show your chosen frame to your eyecare practitioner as it is possible to calculate the expected thickness of the lens edge for your prescription and frame chosen.

If your frame has a plastic rim that totally surrounds the lens, this will need to withstand being heated, stretched larger than the lens bevel, then cooled which will shrink the rim to hold the lens firmly. Your eye care specialist / optometrist will be able to advise on potential problems - glazing an old frame in this way will probably only be undertaken at you own risk. It will be impossible for an optician to predict, just by looking at it, how brittle your vintage frame is, and whether the rim will tolerate this degree of manhandling. Reputable companies supplying vintage spectacles from the fifties will be able to give an indication on how robust the frames are likely to be but it is likely that they too will be able to offer any cast-iron guarantees, for the same reason.

There is no doubt that vintage and retro frames really can add a unique edge to your fashion style. You may collect simply for the joy of owning a piece of history, or for use in costume drama, or to wear yourself, but whatever the reason - good luck with your hunting!

Vampire-human love story is here

Vampire-human love story is here

Vampire-human love story is here

The wait is finally over for the Twilight series fans. The movie was finally released in India - a year later that it did in the US. For the fans, the movie doesn't need any introduction or a backgrounder but, those who are totally clueless; the movie (based on the book series by Stephenie Meyer) is about an impossible love; impossible because a vampire falls in love with a human. Yes, you read that right. "Finally the lion falls in love with the lamb". Stupid lamb' is how the lead pair sum-up their love for each other. There are hardly any films made nowadays where one would find that love is implied rather than explicit. Though there are a few scenes where the chemistry between the lead is almost crackling, nowhere in the entire movie does the intensity of the love fade - it hangs in the air. It feels that you can actually touch it.

So you have non-vegetarian vampires (they drink human blood) and you have vegetarian vampires (they drink animal blood). With so many vampires roaming around their sworn enemies - werewolves, can't be far behind. So while the police (humans) is trying to solve the unexplained spurt of murders, the werewolves close rank to protect the humans. Never a dull moment in the movie. The vampire, Edward Cullen, is played by Robert Pattinson. Not many would remember his rather short appearance in the movie Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire where he played the role of Cedric Diggory. His performance in the Potter series might have gone unnoticed, it is practically impossible to ignore him in the Twilight. Such is his aura in the movie that in the frames where is he not there you actually start to miss him and wait for his return.

The love interest of the vampire, Isabella Swan (Kristen Stewart), on the other hand appears as a simpering character. Love does make a person clingy but, Bella's character is extremely weak when compared to the others. An interesting point to note is that though Forks, Washington DC actually exists on the map, the movie was not filmed there. For the Twilight series fans the movie is a bonus. To actually see the characters come alive and to see Edward Cullen walking, talking and smiling is a dream come true. Beautiful locales with excellent direction and awesome cinematography makes this movie a must see.

Values in Recovery - Part 1

Values in Recovery - Part 1

Values in Recovery - Part 1

Understanding the Role of Values

Values are intended to help you lay a solid foundation for permanent change. This three part series is focused on the single most important aspect of your recovery: your values. Specifically, your ability to recognize, develop and use your values in practical ways.

Values: What Are They?

Your values are those principles in your life that you use to derive meaning and fulfillment. They form the foundation of your identity. If those values are consistent, your identity will reflect consistency. If those values are in conflict with one another, your identity will reflect conflict. For many, values are conceived as idealistic concepts without any real practical value in helping them to manage their day-to-day life. This needs to change. You need to construct a foundation of practical values from which you will manage the most important aspects of your life. Without this foundation in place, more complex life skills such as prioritization, decision-making, urge control, goal management, emotional management and others simply cannot be mastered. And addiction cannot be overcome.

The Role of Values

What an engine is to your car, values are to your life. Can a person still drive a car without an engine? Yes, but not efficiently. The engine performs a particular role for that car (to generate energy), and unless that role is fulfilled by some other means, the car will not run. What other options are available to generate this motion? The use of a tow truck, or the assurance that all of the trips made in that car will be downhill. Yes, that is sarcasm. But nonetheless, the car can still function as a mode of transportation--albeit in a much less efficient manner. Can a person live without values? Yes, but not efficiently. Values perform a particular role in life (to generate energy), and unless that role is fulfilled by some other means, that life will not run. What options are available in a life not stimulated by one's values? Well, addiction for one.

In a healthy person, values provide the motivation that drives their behavior. They are the impetus for decision-making and the foundation for feelings and emotions. Without a foundation of values, our lives would lack even the most basic sense of significance or meaning. We would be reduced to nothing more than animals guided by whatever made them feel good at the moment, no matter what the consequences. Which is why, as the progressive nature of addiction begins to take root, one's values diminish. And as that behavior continues to progress, the connection with their values can be lost altogether. Is it any wonder then that people who have struggled with addictions over long periods end up living a life that produces little, if any meaning?

The values that drive our behavior can be divided into two groups: practical values and universal values. Practical values include those which can be measured through daily interaction with other people, places and/or events. Values such as being a good father, a faithful wife, being healthy enough to complete a marathon, or persistent enough to write a book, financially responsible enough to buy a home...these are practical values that involve the inclusion of other things to determine their success or failure. Intimately intertwined with practical values are the more universal values that serve to produce the foundation of a person's identity.

The following Universal values are by no means comprehensive; rather, they are a list of some of the more common values that people derive genuine fulfillment and emotional comfort from. It is not necessary that you develop each and every one...though historically you will find your life to be stable and fulfilling when your foundation is based on anywhere between 5-8 active values (practical and/or universal). Any less than five and you will find your foundation vulnerable to collapse. Any more than eight and you will likely struggle to achieve the depth required from any single value.

Universal Values
Self-respect: Taking pride in who you are, the decisions that you make and the life that you are living
Safety/Survival: Maintaining patterns that promote life and avoid death/debilitation
Social Acceptance: Having the ability to initiate/maintain healthy relationships with others
Meaning: Pursuing a reason for your existence--spirituality, progeny, self-awareness, etc.
Security: Securing the resources (e.g. food, shelter, transportation) needed to maintain specific values (e.g. good role model, peer acceptance, travel)
Intimacy: Sharing a special trust and vulnerability with another human being
Health: Maintaining optimum physical and mental health
Love: Experiencing the three types of critical love: self-love, parental love and social love
Identity: Feeling that you are a unique, special and valuable person in the world
Integrity: Being proud of who you are in the eyes of others
Autonomy: Being in control over the direction of your life
Order: Having an organized plan for your life, even if that plan includes spontaneity

Practical Values
Whereas universal values anchor the stability of your identity, practical values make up the movement. Practical values are what you use on a day-to-day basis to affect change in your life, to derive ongoing fulfillment. All universal values have the potential to be practical values--if you develop them as such. For instance, valuing self-respect as a concept is a universal value; actually using that concept to assist you in decision-making makes it practical. Practical values are what promote change; practical values are what you need to be most actively developing in recovery.

Take a look at the following and see if you can identify the differences between the practical values and the universal:
I believe in God (U)
I pray to God each day for strength (P)
Family is important to me (U)
I am improving the way that I communicate with my wife (P)
I want to be a role model for my kids (U)
I want to role model patience, compassion and forgiveness to my kids (P)
Family is important to me (U)
I want to strengthen the role that I play in my brother's life (P)
I value freedom (U)
I take three hours each week to enjoy my freedom (P)
I want to reach my potential. (U)
I will spend no more than sixty minutes a day in front of the TV and/or computer--unless it is directly related to my pursuing my personal goals. (P)

Note that practical values are more specific than universal. That many practical values may fall under a single universal value. Note also that practical values can often be measured and/or assessed in quantifiable terms. This is not always the case, sometimes that assessment can only take place subjectively, but there must be some way of determining whether or not progress and/or regression are taking place.

For recovery to take place, to make the transition to health, you will have to evolve your practical values. The success of this development will be predicated on your ability to identify an initial set of values that is CONGRUENT with the life that you want to live. These, as opposed to developing a set of ideal values that define a life that you want other people to think you are living. There is no more room for appearances. If you are to end your addiction, the changes that you are making now must be real...and they must be sincere.

The following are common values that people might use to rebuild their life. Your goal is not to embrace these values because they sound good, but to really look at who you are and adopt those that you want to become a part of you.

Use a Slide Show Projector for Halloween

Looking for a fun and exciting way to jazz up your Halloween this year? Consider renting a projector and getting those creative juices flowing. Here are our best ideas to get you started in a very spooky way!

Project a Horror Movie

Perhaps the easiest and most fun way to use a rental projector this Halloween is to project a scary movie onto a big blank wall. You can run your favorite spooky flick in the background at your Halloween party, or gather friends and family to cuddle up in the dark and prepare to be scared - in a BIG way. Some of our favorites include The Rocky Horror Picture Show (for adults only, of course), Halloween, Friday the 13th, A Nightmare on Elm Street, or Scream. For the lighter side of Halloween entertainment, consider It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown or Scary Movie.

Showcase Scary Images

A rental projector can be used inside or out to project scary images onto a blank wall or a solid, light-colored sheet. You might even consider designing your own indoor haunted house, complete with scary projections. And since rentals typically include two to three days, you can also host a film fest to maximize your rental projector enjoyment.

Family Movie Night

A less intense way to spend Halloween is with a family movie night and a rental projector. Gather friends and family and prepare to greet trick or treaters as everyone gathers around to watch their favorite seasonal flicks in larger than life presentation format.

Host a Gaming Tournament

What to do with all that leftover candy? You could consider donating it to our overseas troops, or pool the best sweets and treats as the grand prize for a gaming tournament. Since Halloween falls on a Monday this year, a weekend projector rental leaves lots of additional recreational time, which is perfect for a video game tournament. It brings the family together and makes for a cost-effective good time that lasts all weekend long.

Host a Costume Contest

If you're hosting a Halloween party this year, why not make the most of a costume contest? You can snap digital images and run the slide show format with your rental projector. Let party guests vote on their favorite costumes and award prizes.

How you choose to celebrate Halloween is a personal choice that will vary from family to family. But whatever kind of celebration you're planning, you'll maximize the fun with a slide show rental projector.

UFO Sighting at Luke AFB

UFOs, Unidentified Flying Objects - Flying Saucers, whatever you care to call them, and whether you believe in them or not, there are too many sightings to be totally dismissed. Here's an exceptional one extracted from "Project Blue Book", written by "EJR" former chief of the Air Force's project for investigating UFO reports.

The incident took place at Luke AFB, Arizona, the Air Force's advanced fighter-bomber school that is named after the famous "balloon buster" of World War I, Lieutenant Frank Luke, Jr. It was a sighting that produced some very interesting photographs.

There were only a few high cirrus clouds in the sky late on the morning of March 3 1953 when a pilot took off from Luke in an F-84 jet to log some time. He had been flying F-51s in Korea and had recently started to check out in the jets. He took off, cleared the traffic pattern, and started climbing toward Blythe Radio, about 130 miles west of Luke.

He'd climbed for several minutes and had just picked up the coded letters BLH that identified Blythe Radio when he looked up through the corner glass in the front part of his canopyhigh at about two o'clock he saw what he thought was an airplane angling across his course from left to right leaving a long, thin vapor trail. He glanced down at his altimeter and saw that he was at 23,000 feet. The object that was leaving the vapor trail must really be high, he remembered thinking, because he couldn't see any airplane at the head of it.

He altered his course a few degrees to the right so that he could follow the trail and increased his rate of climb. Before long he could tell that he was gaining on the object, or whatever was leaving the vapor trail, because he was under the central part of it. But he still couldn't see any object. This was odd, he thought, because vapor trails don't just happen; something has to leave them.

His altimeter had ticked off another 12,000 feet and he was now at 35,000. He kept on climbing, but soon the '84 began to mush; it was as high as it would go. The pilot dropped down 1,000 feet and continued onnow he was below the front of the trail, but still no airplane. This bothered him too.

Nothing in 1953 flew over 55,000 feet except a few experimental airplanes like the D-558 or those of the "X" series, and they don't stray far from Edwards AFB in California.

He couldn't be more than 15,000 feet from the front of the trail, and you can recognize any kind of an airplane 15,000 feet away in the clear air of the sub stratosphere.

He looked and he looked and he looked. He rocked the F-84 back and forth thinking maybe he had a flaw in the plexiglass of the canopy that was blinking out the airplane, but still no airplane. Whatever it was, it was darn high or darn small. It was moving about 300 miles an hour because he had to pull off power and "S" to stay under it.

He was beginning to get low on fuel about this time so he hauled up the nose of the jet, took about 30 feet of gun camera film, and started down. When he landed and told his story, the film was quickly processed and rushed to the projection room. It showed a weird, thin, forked vapor trailbut no airplane.

Lieutenant Olsson and Airman Futch (veterans of the UFO campaign of 1952) worked the report over thoroughly. The photo lab confirmed that the trail was definitely a vapor trail, not a freak cloud formation. But Air Force Flight Service said, "No other airplanes in the area," and so did Air Defense Command, because minutes after the F-84 pilot broke off contact, the "object" had passed into an ADIZAir Defense Identification Zoneand radar had shown nothing.

There was one last possibility: an astronomer said that the photos looked exactly like a meteor's smoke trail. But there was one hitch: the pilot was positive that the head of the vapor trail was moving at about 300 miles an hour. He didn't know exactly how much ground he'd covered, but when he first picked up Blythe Radio he was on Green 5 airway, about 30 miles west of his base, and when he'd given up the chase he'd taken another radio bearing, and he was now almost up to Needles Radio, 70 miles north of Blythe. He could see a lake, Lake Mojave, in the distance.

Could a high-altitude jet-stream wind have been blowing the smoke cloud? Futch checked thisno. The winds above 20,000 feet were the usual westerlies and the jet stream was far to the north.

Several months later I talked to a captain who had been at Luke when this sighting occurred. He knew the F-84 pilot and he'd heard him tell his story in great detail. I won't say that he was a confirmed believer, but he was interested. "I never thought much about these reports before," he said, "but I know this guy well. He's not nuts. What do you think he saw?"

I don't know what he saw. Maybe he didn't travel as far as he thought he did. If he didn't, then I'd guess that he saw a meteor's smoke trail. But if he did know that he'd covered some 80 miles during the chase, I'd say that he saw a UFOa real one. And I find it hard to believe that pilots don't know what they're doing.

TRON Legacy My Interpretation Of The Metaphors

TRON Legacy My Interpretation Of The Metaphors

TRON Legacy My Interpretation Of The Metaphors

When I heard that the film was all about taking down the master control system I was instantly intrigued. Although I hadn't seen the first film I went with friends to see what it was all about. And with it being in Disney Digital 3D, I had a feeling it was going to be good.

And after watching the film, I was amazed at the amount of metaphors that were in the film. How these carried great significance in explaining the deeper nature of reality and our own psychological development. These metaphors of the film are my personal view and are based on my own interpretation of what these metaphors are and there meaning. They are in no way the right or only interpretation, they are just my view.

This will also mean that I will miss out certain parts and only describe what stood out for me and what I felt was significant. It will not be like a story board where I will describe the whole story.

So with the disclaimer of sorts out of the way, let's begin.

The Master Control System

A big part of the story is about taking down the master control system. This sounds like some kind of building or computer that is controlling everything. And that it needs to be physically taken down by an individual or through some kind of battle or war. My interpretation is that this is a metaphor for how our mind works. By neglecting our own pain we end up creating our own prison. We then project it outside of ourselves and through this process it can feel as though someone else is taking away our freedom and power. However we are the only ones who can give our freedom and power away and that is through renouncing our own responsibility.

The Beginning

The first part of the film that came to my attention was when Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges) left Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund) at an early age. And this occurrence creates a kind of void in Sam and leaves him feeling confused and with a sense of loss. In the following scenes where he has grown up, we see him driving a motor bike and after that he breaks into the software building, tries to escape from the police and he also lives on his own. From all of these situations we can see that he has developed into a rebel. It could be said that the anger he has to fuel all of this comes back to the experience of Kevin leaving him. This is someone who gives of the view that they don't care, when ultimately they are doing it to gain attention and somehow fill the emptiness within them. He could have gone the other way and conformed, with these being two aspects of the same coin.

Entering TRON

Once he finds his way into the master control system he is soon caught and finds who he believes to be his dad, only for Sam to be told that he is not his dad. This creates an even greater anger towards Kevin. And this continues his feelings of rejection. He also receives a suit and disc on his back. The disc could be a metaphor for the soul and our life force.

During the next scene of him being forced into battle with who he believes is his dad, he comes across a woman called Quorra (Olivia Wilde). He is then taken to the hiding place of his real Dad and the real Kevin Flynn.

Meeting Kevin Flynn

Upon arriving here we can instantly see the whole duality of good vs. bad and the enlightened vs. unenlightened being played out. Here Kevin is wearing white robes and the whole building is lit up with extremely bright white lights. He also seems to be meditating and has a whole book shelf that includes the Tao Te Ching and many other books on philosophy and ancient wisdom.

It is also here that we come to understand that the guy who looks like a younger version of Kevin is actually called Clu (Jeff Bridges). From what I remember Clu was created by Kevin at the beginning of the TRON creation, to help him fulfil his master creation. However Clue turned against Kevin and he is now his enemy.

With Clue wearing the colour black, he is the other half of the good/bad duality. He also displays oppressive and tyrannical tendencies. Under his rule, as soon as Sam arrives in TRON he is caught and loses his freedom, followed by him having to fight to survive. He is also forced into wearing a suit. This could be a metaphor for control, by the fact that everyone is wearing the same colour so to prohibit any individuality and to cause restriction in the body. And the fact that Clu wants to control others, shows that he has no control himself, and is trying to compensate for through the control of others. With Clu, the whole time watching over his kingdom. Clu also lives in an area that is dark and bleak looking, further representing the darker side of life.

It also made me think at this point, how they are ultimately the same people. With Clu being a projection of all of the parts that Kevin doesn't want to look at, often described as our shadow self. This to me was a great metaphor for how our life works

He also mentions here how a minute of our world was about 4 hours in the TRON world. This reminds me of how our experience of time all depends on our perception of it.

Sam's rescue mission

After all this explaining has happened about TRON, Sam wants to go home and take Kevin with him, now that he understands that the portal will close within a number of hours. However with Kevin's Zen like nature of wanting to just be and not wanting to do anything, it clashes with Sam's all action approach. This shows another duality, of the being and the doing.

Here, with the help of Quorra Sam rebels against Kevin's wishes and goes back to the heart of TRON. At this point it makes me think that Quorra is like a guardian angel, as she plays the role of assisting Sam at this point.

Meeting Zuse

Upon meeting Zuse (Michael Sheen), Sam soon finds out that clue is never far behind. A further example of how we can't run away from the 'darker' parts of ourselves. Before long Kevin appears and his arrival creates silence. It is another example that Kevin is the God of Tron and has tremendous power over the people of TRON. However Kevin is the embodiment of the supportive and loving god, and Clu is the antithesis of this, with him being the cold and merciless god. With ones motive to create heaven and the others desire to create hell. I also think that Kevin and Clus desire to be a god and have power over others and there environment is the result of their own disconnection from themselves and the loss of realising that they are already the gods of their own reality.

It is also in this scene that Quorra loses her arm; I will go in this later, after looking out for and trying to protect Sam. With Kevin losing his power disc also. With him having lost the disc he loses his god like abilities, which is why I believe the disc it is a metaphor for our life force.

When I think about this disc what also comes to mind is that it is another metaphor for how we can believe that our own power is external and that we need a certain thing to be empowered. As a result of this perception we can live in constant fear of something outside of ourselves, of something happening to us that we have no control over.

Getting the disc back and the race to the portal

It is during these moments that Kevin opens up about how he was looking to create perfection in his life, and after all these years of being trapped in TRON, he came to realise that perfection was right in front of him. This to me is another metaphor for describing how our own skewed perceptions, can cause us to feel unhappy and that something is missing. Through this view we can look outside of ourselves for the answers and fail to see that it's our own perceptions that need to be cleansed and not reality itself. And due to this we can have a constant yearning for tomorrow to come, but as a result of this we lose our present moment of grace and never really live.

It is also at this point that we find out that Quorra has a special ability. She can be healed of anything, and with the help of Kevin (her creator) she is able to grow her arm back. To achieve this the power disc on her back is removed and from the disc a projected hologram appears. From here, there is a strand in her DNA that is a different colour to the rest of the strands, which is restricting her ability to function as a whole person. And once it is removed her arm grows back.

To me this is an external display of how consciousness works and functions. As we begin to work on our inner conflicts, which are just like the external example, we will gain our own sense of harmony, peace and wholeness.

Kevin also says that the purpose of creating Quorra was to end all of the disease on the earth, and with her ability this will become a reality. This is also another metaphor for the whole victim and perpetrator duality. With disease being seen as the perpetrator and humans being's perceived as the victims. The possibility that disease might be feedback for what we need to look at in our life, as opposed to something that just 'happens' to us, is something that is not often considered. Without going to deeply into disease, it is easy to see what consequences of this perception can have on our own wellbeing and then further out into our society.

The portal

When they arrive at the portal Clu manages to get there just as Sam and Quorra are about to leave through the portal. It is in this scene that Kevin and Clu merge, this could be a sign that in the end Kevin has a deeper understanding of himself and manages to integrate his dual nature.

Clu also shows a kind of remorse towards Kevin at the end, explaining that he did everything that he asked of him. This to me is like that part of us that is called our inner child, that part of us that still feels ignored and neglected from our younger years. It is the part of us that still longs to be loved and heard.

The return to earth

Once they are back on the earth, there is a moment where Quorra gets to finally see what a sun rise looks like. This is something that she has never had the opportunity to see by living in a dark world. My interpretation of this is that nature is constantly showing us what perfection is and it is these expressions of nature that we can easily take for granted that are an example of perfection and wonder in our day to day lives.

It could also be said that Quorro is being portrayed as a saviour of mankind, with her ability to end disease. This carries on from the many expressions through time of a god or some type of superhero that will come and save us all. However all of these examples are a projection of what we would like to embody ourselves and what we feel we don't have. They also portray humans as being victims of life and as having no control. However, as we come to understand ourselves, we will start to see that we can be our own god or superhero. And although we may require s assistance at times, what we don't need is anyone to save us.

Conclusion

Some of the reviews of the film were not great, this is because they were reviewing it based on the story, and of course it is their own opinion. I think it was a great film, but then my whole experience of the film is based on the metaphors and the depth of the film. I am not focused on or even interested in whether it was a film worthy of an Oscar (however if there was a deep and profound film category, I'm sure it would win). As soon as I sensed these deeper elements to the film I was hooked. I would also be pleased to hear of any parts of the film that you have interpreted differently or that I have missed.

Trauma, Loss, & Bereavement

Trauma, Loss, & Bereavement

Trauma, Loss, & Bereavement

Loss, disappointment, failure, and grief are normal and natural accompaniments of the human experience. Bereavement, the response we have to grief and loss, is also familiar to most of us. Little has changed in terms of the emotional response to the pain of loss across the centuries. There are many kinds of loss, death is but an extreme example. There is still the agonizing experience of separation and the subsequent wrestling with the aftermath of unfinished business, and unanswered questions related to

Why? and Why me?

Having ones comfortable and stable world rocked by uncertainty, chaos, and anguish ushered in by death leaves one feeling helpless. There continues to be the struggle to deal with the uncomfortable psychological reactions of anxiety, anger, despair and the impact on ones self-esteem. Confusion, disorganization, and depression are the natural results of having ones world shattered by the death of a loved. It is normal to resist the onslaught of unexpected feelings and the fear of facing an uncertain future without the loved one. Everyone is touched by the experience of feeling mortal and vulnerable which occurs in an encounter with the finality of death. Most, despite all of this, submit to the necessary process of loss, grief and bereavement and work to rebuild the old world into a new, post loss world.

However, while the actual experiences of mourning and its inherent demands have not changed over time, what has changed is the climate in which they now occur. This changed environment is charged with potentials for complicated grief and mourning. The reason for this is quite simple. Death has become more frequent, unnatural and violent with less of a social context in which it can be integrated. The social conditions under which we exist are characterized by increased violence, accidents, terrorism, disasters, holocausts, accidents, plane crashes, and seemingly random shootings.

Today deaths are more frequently of a type known to complicate mourning. In particular these include sudden, unexpected deaths, expecially when traumatic, violent, mutilating, or random; death resulting from an overly lengthy illness; death of a child; and death the mourner believes preventable.

Loss, and bereavement, then, become even more problematic, when it occurs under traumatizing circumstances. Recent studies have shown that when death occurs from sudden, unexpected circumstances such as accidents, suicide, or murder, bereavement reactions are more severe, exaggerated and complicated. The individual mourners capacity to cope and adapt are overwhelmed. Research has shown that those who mourn the willful, intentional act of murder of a loved one--bereaved homicide survivors--experience the unique intrusion by many outside forces in our society.

The American Psychiatric Association has defined Trauma as follows,

The person has experienced an event that is outside the range of usual human experience that would be markedly distressing to almost anyone. For example: serious threat or harm to ones children, spouse or other close relatives and friends; sudden destruction of ones home or community; or seeing another person who has recently been or is seriously wounded, or killed as a result of accident or physical violence.

The result of these kinds of experiences results in a condition known as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. PTSD is a normal response to abnormal circumstances. Failure to recover or adquately deal with traumatic loss and restore ones life to normal functioning is often referred to as Complicated Grief Response.

There are a whole host of factors which lead to complicated grief subsequent to trauma.

The first is that the suddenness of the trauma overwhelms the persons coping abilities and leaves him or her in shock.

The second is that our commonly held beliefs about the justice, orderliness, safety, meaningfulness, stability, predictability, and our ability to control our destinies, is violently shattered.

Thirdly, because of the type of loss we experience intense reactions of fear, vulnerability, helplessness, and loss of control.

A fourth factor is that the mourner experiences a profound loss of security and confidence in the world which affects all areas of life. This is likely to increase many kinds of anxiety.

Fifth, traumatic death leaves mourners with relatively more intense emotional reactions, such as greater anger, ambivalence, guilt, helplessness, death anxiety, vulnerability, confusion, disorganization, and obsession with the deceased along with strong needs to afix blame or make the death meaningful.

Sixth, the traumatic death leaves the mourner with many secondary losses and problems to deal with as a result. Unfinished business, and not being able to say goodby make it difficult to complete the mourning.

Seventh, traumatic death leaves the victims with profound feelings of mistrust, shattered beliefs, and inability to reattach to a future with hope and meaning. A sense of foreshortened future and recurrence are common.

Eighth, traumatic death compounds and exaggerates all of the other normal ongoing stressors of life.

Ninth, traumatic death often creates many post traumatic reactions of a physical or psychological kind. Shock, numbing, headaches, sleep disorders, digestive disorders, inability to feel loving feelings, depression, anxiety, and intrusive thoughts, flashbacks, fatigue, tension, weakness, sweating, hyper-vigilance, irritability, amnesia, and difficulty in concentration are all common.

And finally, the tenth factor has to do with the mourners attempts to cope and restore order which may turn out to be ineffective. Quite often failed attempts to cope lead to addiction, avoidance, phobias, chronic depression, compulsive- destructive behaviors, and failed relationships. Failed attempts to cope may lead to the mourner getting stuck, or suffering from a complicated grief reaction.

Trauma, loss and bereavement reactions are a complicated interaction of numerous factors; the individual mourner, the type of death, and the social context in which the death occurs. Recent events provide numerous examples of how all of these previously discussed factors interact: case in point, Littleton, Colorado.

I, along with millions of other Americans watched the unfolding horrors of the massacre at Columbine High School. I watched at two levels. The first level was that of a highly trained, sophisticated trauma specialist. I was observing all of the events and at the same time cataloguing them according to what was likely to be the short and long term effects of that event. I was also observing the efforts of the emergency responders and the way that they handled the victims. They were doing their best while they themselves were being traumatized in the course of doing a very difficult job. I saw an entire comunity being simultaneously traumatized. The concentric circles of victimization extended out from those immediately under fire to their fellow students, the families frantically searching for their children, emergency responders trying to save lives, protect themselves, and evacuate a booby trapped building. All the while the entire scene was being documented by live television reportage. Death, terror, chaos, shock, disbelief, and horror mounted as the body count went up.

How could this happen?
Were supposed to be safe in school.

How could the police not know about this ahead of time?
I knew they were angry and a little weird, but I couldnt believe they were capable of this.

Tearful reunions, crying, stunned survivors telling of pandimonium and fear behind barracaded doors. Helpless, we all watched a school, community, families, and children being shattered before our very eyes. In just a few short minutes, the whole world of Littleton, Colorado and all those whose lives touched on the people of that community were changed forever. I also watched all of this as a person who has had several traumatic losses in my own life. I was touched by the shock, I remembered my own experiences, I could feel their helplessness and terror. I could feel their numbness and disbelief. I also knew how long it was going to take to heal.

There were more than lives lost that day. Students reported that they could never go to that school again. Their beliefs in a safe, just, serene, stable, orderly, meaningful universe were shattered. Their trust in the ability of adults to protect them was shattered. Their beliefs in a future in which they could control their destinies was lost. Random, sudden, intentional murder on a mass scale was committed by students who were known to them. These acts of savagery are incomprehensible yet we try to make sense of them. Shortly after the event began to wind down people were already busily engaged in trying to find answers to how this could have happened, the why and why here and why now questions were asked incessantly. One school, the next day banned trench coats. Everyone in their way was trying to make sense of what happened and regain control of a world which went upside down and inside out.

The trauma that day was magnified by the savagery, brutality, and shere number of fatalities. This event fits the catagory of a catastrophic community trauma. Intentional, multiple, horrific murders commited by people known to us are the most difficult of all traumas to integrate, assimilate and recover from. Children were exposed to horror, blood, death, and were in fear of their own lives. They were rendered helpless while simultaneously experiencing the most primitive feelings of terror, shock, confusion, and bewilderment. One of their own wanted to kill as many as possible. This kind of a loss cannot be understood, absorbed or made sensible. There is no way to get closure, say goodbye, or deal with unfinished issues. The sustaining context of hope, the envelope of security, trust and mutuality, the shared experiences, values and beliefs which bind a community and its citizens together was shredded by two young men, who for reasons unknown, felt isolated, allienated and uncared for enough to plan and carry out a vendetta of rage and revenge.

Shattered beliefs, shattered emotions, shattered relationships, shattered innocence, shattered covenants, shattered lives: all who were even marginally involved were rendered helpless and subjected to unspeakable, unimaginable horrors and death. Trauma of this magnitude will not heal by itself. Trauma of this magnitude will scar this town and its people forever. The work of healing must be immediate, well planned, and executed systematically in order to minimize secondary trauma and injury. The presence of the press and national attention has already traumatized vulnerable children by subjecting their most intense and personal reactions to scrutiny. It is not possible to heal or even mourn with microphones and cameras present. It can only be done in a safe and caring environment created by knowledgeable, compassionate professionals. The services and memorials were well intentioned and may have had some benefit in demonstrating community solidarity and emotional catharsis, but the real work of mourning will be done in the next few days, weeks, and yes, even years.

As a further example of the potential devastation this kind of community disaster has on its victims not only for the short term but even years later, I cite the Oklahoma City bombing. Four years after the worst act of terrorism in the United States, at least a half dozen people linked to the bombing have taken their own lives. These include two rescue workers, a federal prosecutor, an army Captain who made it out of the building, a bomb-blast survivor, and the husband of one of the victims. At least twice as many have attempted it, and who knows how many more have thought of suicide. Four years later the legacy of the bombing lingers on, more than 500 were injured physically, far more have lingering psychological trauma. Many survivors--building workers, paramedics, police officers--are haunted by survivors guilt --they lived but they were unable to save others. The resulting traumatic impact is everywhere: spousal abuse, failed marriages, ruined careers, school problems, nightmares, and drug and alcohol dependence. One police officer was arrested for writing illegal prescriptions, another spends his days on a bar stool. One woman rescued from the building now cannot leave her home. Another is addicted to gambling. Others carry weapons and are constantly afraid of another incident. Trauma professionals who worked the incident have warned that the suffering would likely reach its peak in three to five years after the formal memorial services concluded.

In summary, loss, mourning and bereavement, are a part of life. Most of us are able to struggle through the difficult emotions, accept the loss, and rebuild our lives into a new configuration. Trauma, when added to the grief experience, adds whole new dimensions to bereavement. Traumatic loss is most often a life changing experience. For its victims life will never be the same again. There will be no turning back. The old life will not be recaptured. Littleton, Colorado illustrates the magnitude of the problem of trauma by the shere size and scope of the devastation. Multiple fatalities, violence and mutilation, random and perhaps preventable violence, exposure of hundreds to death and horror, intentional murder commited by associates in a sudden and unanticipated manner, all of these factors meet the criteria for traumatic loss. In fact, just the presence of one of these factors contribute to the likelihood of the death being traumatic and places the victim at a high risk for complicated grieving.

In order for the victims of the Columbine High School massacre to recover they will need to go through the following stages of mourning. These stages are outlined by Therese Rando, a leading expert on complicated mourning. These stages also apply, of course, to other kinds of traumatic loss.

Task 1. RECOGNIZE THE LOSS
Acknowledge the death, understand the death

Task 2. REACT TO THE SEPARATION
Experience the pain, feel and express all reactions to the loss.
Identify and mourn all secondary losses.

Task 3. RECOLLECT AND REEXPERIENCE THE DECEASED AND RELATIONSHIP
Review and remember realistically
Revive and reexperience the feelings

Task 4. RELINQUISH the old attachments
Release and work through the attachment
Release and revise the old world

Task 5. READJUST,
move adaptively into the new world without forgetting the old.
Reconcile old beliefs with new experiences.
Resolve the incongruity, dissonance and conflict in beliefs.
Develop a new relationship with deceased.
Adopt new patterns and structures in your life.
Form a new identity.

Task 6. REINVEST
Form new attachments.
Develop new relationships.
Learn to care and live a new life.

In all likelihood many of the more severely traumatized individuals at Littleton will experience some form of complicated bereavement. This in effect means that he or she will get stuck at one stage and be unable to move on to the next. Many will try to skip the whole process and just get on with their lives.

A word of caution: by the time mourning has become complicated, mere grief facilitation will be insufficient. The individual will require more.

In conclusion, confronting trauma is not only necessary in order to move beyond it, it is necessary because it reduces the necessity for avoidance, repression, and reduces the risk of pathological consequences. Getting stuck in trauma means that we want to either deny, avoid, or hold on to what was. We do not want to feel the grief and other related feelings. Mourning, I must caution is not optional, it is something which calls out to us and wont leave us alone until we heal the wounds. If we try to avoid it we run the risk of having our lives stop at that very place where the trauma occurred. We must find the way, and the situation which will facilitate the process of healing. It can be done, it must be done.

Touring the Home of the Future Five Innovations That Are Changing How We Live

Progress isnt a straight, upward line, but a generally positive trend marked by many peaks and valleysin most cases. When it comes to home improvement innovation, though, progress is a near-constant result of booming industries competing to deliver the next must-have residential technology.

Whether its connecting every appliance in your home to a central network or using voice command technology to complete common household tasks, its clear that there are hundreds of businessesand thousands of peoplededicated to building the smartest homes possible.

Here are five innovations that are steadily growing in popularity, but will soon become mainstay appliances and amenities in the homes of the future.

Smart Glass Windows

Privacy, like many residential amenities, is swiftly becoming more automated and on-demand. Theres no biggest indicator of this than the surging popularity of smart glass technology, which allows users to toggle the opacity of their window glass. Smart glass windows are constructed using several methods, but well focus on one of the more predominant materials: electrochromic glass.

Either glass or plastic can serve as the base material for electrochromic smart glass windows, but regardless of material type, these windows all feature multiple thin panes parted by a central separator apparatus. Two electrodes are attached to each end of the separator, and when the window is switched on, the lithium ions, or positively charged lithium atoms, are directed to align along the outward-facing pane. This ionic concentration causes the glass to become opaque.

Smart glass windows are most commonly standalone installations, but the technology is continuously being refined so that it can be reconstituted as a film layer that can be retroactively applied to older windows. One could also see smart glass becoming a popular bathroom remodel feature, for those looking for a wall surround or enclosure that grants privacy and custom style. Smart glass technology can also conceivably be integrated with solar energy systems, so while this innovation isnt a common household item yet, it has many promising applications.

App-Controlled Appliances

You dont have to look too distantly into the future to see the internet of things, especially when it comes to home appliance manufacturers prioritizing device connectivity. The movement started with the Roomba over 15 years ago and has aggressively ramped up ever since. Now, thermostats, door locks, window shades, and pretty much every home adornment you can think of has Wi-Fi support and can be controlled via a phone or tablet.

Now, with the advent of voice-controlled devices like Amazon Echo and Google Home, the next innovation for these appliances will likely be the further distancing of the operator from the tool. Instead of pulling out a smart device to control an appliance, items will be triggered by voice commands. Convenience is a close relative of popularity, so dont expect the development of app-controlled appliances to slow anytime soon.

Wireless LED Light Bulbs

These bulbs sport the same design and energy efficiency as conventional light bulbs but offer more personalized lighting options that can be controlled via a smart device or home assistance peripheral. What will truly distinguish these products is how users customize their lighting scheme to parallel certain aspects of their life. For example, some lightbulbs can be programmed to emit a sunrise-like hue in the morning to make waking up a more pleasantly gradual task.

Other wireless light bulbs can be triggered by context-sensitive actions on your smart device, such as a rooms lighting scheme turning to an intense shade if a resident receives an important message or notification.

Solar Roof Paneling and Home Batteries

This home innovation, like so many technologies before it, received an awareness bump after Tesla introduced its solar roof and Powerwall battery, but the idea has such a universal appeal that it would be surprisingly to see other manufacturers miss the bandwagon.

What makes this home innovation so intriguing is its promise of sustainable, personalized power grids that can still provide sufficient energy during inclement weather due to the electricity reserves stored in the home battery connected to the roof paneling. With so many devices and home features depending on a steady electrical supply, people will be looking to reduce their personal liability during a prolonged power outage. As a result, many will see these solar roofing systems as the perfect solution. The only complication that could arise is the recently increased tariffs on imported solar panels. This could drive up the price on an already costly and nascent product.

All-in-One Home Security Systems

The pursuit of security never goes out of style, especially when your security system makes your home feel like an impenetrable digital fortress. Many of these smart security systems feature the convenient specs youd expect, like motion sensors and mobile home camera feeds, but what has really spurred their popularity is how certain telecommunication companies are incorporating these connected security systems into their regular service bundles. Its like that landline your cable company is always trying to pawn off on youbut, you know, useful.

The Future is Calling From Inside the House!

In the age of autonomous robots and augmented reality, its hard not to have your mind blown by something every day. While some of those striking innovations may amount to nothing more than fads, though, home technologies like the ones profiled above will define what the home of the future looks like, inside and out; so go boldly into that great unknown, just make sure you ask Alexa for directions first.

Top Tips on How to Commission A Professional Photo Painter

If you are an art lover, you may like to commission someday a professional photo painter to paint a picture for you. It could be a family picture, your dog in the garden or even your kids playing with friends. The art of photo painting is an extraordinary skill enjoyed by a few with the innate talent of turning a photograph to painting. However, commissioning a professional artist who will meet your expectations is not as easy as painting pictures itself.

Whether you have a picture to paint already, or you want to take a new one, commissioning a resourceful photo painter is not like going to the photo studio. It takes some research to garner insights and the appropriate knowledge to know how to hire the right artist for your specific project. However, this article will guide you on how to commission the right photo painter for you.

Painted portraits make amazing personalized dcor in the home. I always find them beautiful and proud to hang them in the living room to the admiration of my guests, heres how I commissioned a professional painter whenever I needed one.

1. Do Your Research

Unlike going to a photo shop for a snap, a good photo painter is not so straightforward to hire. There is a wide variety of artists with different styles. The best way is to take some time to learn what photo painting is all about and get to know the artists specialization in medium and style.

2. Have a Clear Vision of What You Want

You need to familiarize yourself with paintings and themes, the genre you want the artist to use and the art medium (is it pencil, acrylic, oil, watercolor, pastel, etc.,). Let the artist guide you on the best colors to paint in.

3. Study Artists

You are commissioning a professional photo painter because you love art and want the best for your home, it is worth doing your research to save the stress later on if you just go with the cheapest one. Take your time to do a thorough search for the best artist in the specific style you want. Use your preliminary search to get accurate information to make an informed decision. The best place to do your research is on-line. Make sure to localize your search for artists in your locality. And if they have a brick and mortar store in reaching distance pay them a visit to see the work and painter up close.

4. Contact a Few Artists

After your local search, you should narrow down to few artists. Its time to communicate with them and start to apply what you have learned to hire one of them. The good thing about artists is they always have a portfolio and are proud to show you what theyve got. Get assurances of their availability, quality of work and negotiate the price and payment and know when your painting will be ready. Pay a deposit to start and then balance payment on completion when you are satisfied with the work.

5. Commission an Artist

Once you have located the right photo painter, its time to draw up a contract. Its not necessarily a lengthy contract, any written document, which shows a commitment to the agreed price and deadline is fine. It could be an email stating when the commission will be started, agreed price and turnaround time. Then Commission you chosen artist after your due diligence and wait for the date of completion.

If you are still not confident of commissioning a professional to paint a portrait then see here for an in-depth article for much more detailed information.

Top Three Ways to Make Gold in Runescape

Making gold in Runescape is not has hard as some want you to believe it is. Making money in Runescape just takes a little time and patience.

It's not an overnight thing that just happens. I have three favorite ways to make money on Runescape and I am going to share them with all of you. It's not a secret or anything it's just the three best ways I have found to make the gold.

The first method that I like to use by fishing and then selling lobsters on the grand exchange. To catch lobsters you need to be at level 40 fishing. And fishing lobsters is one of the fastest ways to make money since lobsters are fairly quick to catch. I don't sell them cooked, I sell them raw. I sell them raw because of the high demand for them from people trying to reach 99 cooking and get their skill cape. The raw sell for a lot more than the cooked lobsters. Cooked lobsters sell for a max of 219gp each on the grand exchange. Raw lobsters sell for 293 max on the grand exchange and they sell quickly no matter what the amount you are selling, as long as the lobsters are raw they will sell.

The cooked lobsters do not sell well at the max price most people are only paying 200gp each for cooked.

The second method I use to make money is woodcutting. Woodcutting is another good skill that is fairly quick to make money with. The best way to make money with woodcutting is to cut yew logs once you are able to do so at level 60. But I would wait until level 61 that way you can use a rune axe to cut them. When you first start out cutting the yews at 61 it is a very slow process but it gets a tiny bit faster with each level you gain. The going price for yew logs on the grand exchange is 350gp each.

Finally the third way I like to make money is a simple and slow way and does not make a whole lot fast but does make a descent profit per labor hour. I like to buy flax from the grand exchange for 85gp each and buy a whole bunch at a time like 1k or more and then spin them into bow strings and sell for 170gp in the grand exchange. It's not a huge profit but it takes little time to spin the flax to bow string so it's not too bad of a method.
